MRT is proud to continue a new program that provides complimentary child care to ticket holders at select performances. Licensed professional child care providers from Acre Family Child Care provide age-appropriate activities for children ages 0 - 10.

We offer additional discounts to Educators and the Military community at these performances.

This program is funded, in part, by the Lowell Cultural Council.

Child Care FAQ's

What ages are accepted?
Newborns through age 10

Are the child care providers licensed?

Yes. All of Acre's child care providers are licensed through the Mass. Department of Early Childhood and Care, and are also certified in First Aid.

Where will the children be?
Just down the street from the theatre, in the Relaxation & Meditation Room at Middlesex Community College's Federal Building. Address: 50 Kearney Square. An MRT representative will meet parents at the Federal Building.

How many child care providers will be there?
The total number of providers will be determined by the number and ages of the children. Ratios will be consistent with state regulations.

Will snacks be provided?
Snacks should be sent with the children. Because of diverse dietary needs and restrictions, children will only be allowed to consume the food and drinks that they bring with them. All food containers should be labeled with the child's name. Coolers or ice packs should be brought for any food or drink that needs refrigeration.

What if my child is not potty trained?
Children do not need to be potty trained, but you should send your child with any diapers, wipes, lotions that they will need.

Will activities be provided?
Yes, age-appropriate activities will be coordinated and supervised by the child care professionals.

Where and when is drop off and pick up?
Drop off begins at 3:00 pm (show starts at 4:00 pm) and pick up should be completed by 6:00 pm (show ends at approximately 5:30 pm). Signage at the main entrance to the MRT Box Office will direct parents to the entrance of the LMA where child care providers will meet the families. Pick up will be at the same spot.

Do I need to reserve in advance?
Yes, in order to ensure the appropriate level of staffing and plan activities, the number and ages of children participating will need to be confirmed by the Tuesday prior to the Child Care performance. Reservations for the child care must be made through the MRT Box Office at 978-654-4678.

I am a subscriber and have tickets to a diferent performance. Can I exchange?
Yes, subscribers may exchange their tickets for this performance if they want to take advantage of the child care. We will exchange you into the seats closest to your original seats as possible.

Who pays for this service?
This service is free of charge to the MRT patron. Costs will be covered by Merrimack Repertory Theatre. If the pilot program is successful, funding will be sought to continue and expand the program.

What is the schedule for the rest of the season?
We plan to schedule child care for one performance of each production in the 2016-17 Season. Watch this space for the schedule.

Do I have to attend the MRT performance?
Yes, the child care is only available to patrons attending the matinee performance on that day.

What safety precautions will be in place?
The space has been evaluated by the staff from Acre Family Child Care for safety and will be further childproofed based on the ages of the children in attendance. Children will not be released to any adult unless the numbered bracelets given during drop off are a match.

Are the providers licensed?
Yes, the child care providers are all experienced and licensed child care professionals.
