Director of Marketing


Merrimack Repertory Theatre, a LORT D regional theatre located in Lowell, MA, is seeking a Director of Marketing to oversee all marketing and communications messaging for the organization and to enhance the local, regional, and national profile of MRT. This position will report to the Executive Artistic Director and supervise the Marketing and Front of House team which includes Graphic Designer, Database Manager, Box Office Manager, House Manager, Box Office Representatives, Interns and Volunteers.

POSITION SUMMARY
MRT seeks a driven, collaborative, and innovative individual to serve as Director of Marketing. This position is responsible for creating, implementing, and measuring a successful and comprehensive marketing, communications, and public relations strategy to promote MRT locally and nationally. This includes addressing both subscription and single ticket sales; coordinating media placement; serving as a daily contact for marketing partners and vendors; effecting outreach and audience engagement efforts; and forging strong relationships with local, regional, and national media outlets. In coordination with the rest of the department, the Director of Marketing directs, designs, and distributes all collateral and promotional materials.

PRIMARY DUTIES
1. Commitment to fostering an anti-racist work culture and to anti-racist principles and learning.

3. Create and implement strategies to reach goals for ticket sales (including subscription series, single, group, and student tickets); building brand awareness; strengthening community relationships.
4. Oversee box office staff to ensure overall smooth operation, consistent implementation of policies, and high levels of customer service.
5. Measure progress toward goals and use data analysis to present meaningful reports and recommendations to executive director, senior staff, and the Board of Trustees.
6. Develop a communications and advertising strategy that includes direct mail, email, print, radio, website and digital, including social media.
7. Build a communications calendar with input from the Director of Development and Engagement for all marketing and development patron communication.
8. Develop a strategy for playbill ad sales and playbill preparation for each production.
9. Manage production and distribution of quality collateral materials to support marketing and development goals.
10. Create and manage departmental budget and oversee departmental spending in coordination with Director of Finance and Executive Artistic Director.
11. Fostering relationships with members of the press, including increasing the number of feature stories placed and reviewers covering productions.
12. Collaborate with Senior Staff, Executive Director and Artistic Director on short- and long-range strategic institutional planning.
13. Other duties as assigned.

Salary: 75,000 – 78,000

Qualifications: B.A. in marketing, communications, public relations preferred; graduate work or equivalent experience desired. 3+ years marketing experience and familiarity with performing arts industry; theater experience desired but not necessary. Experience developing and managing budgets, hiring and supervising employees. Excellent written and oral communication skills. Proficient knowledge of Word, Excel, Outlook, Constant Contact, SurveyMonkey, and patron databases (AudienceView is ideal)

Box Office Manager

Merrimack Repertory Theatre, a LORT D regional theatre located in Lowell, MA, is seeking a Box Office Manager to oversee all ticketing operations. The Box Office Manager ensures superior customer service for the entire MRT community – with a focus on efficient, thoughtful, and thorough service for patrons.  The Box Office Manager executes the efficient and orderly processing of “ticketing” requests: subscriptions; single tickets; donations; registrations and event RSVPs; gift certificates; and complimentary tickets.

PRIMARY DUTIES

3. Serve as the primary contact for all ticket sales and service.
4. Project manage many facets of subscription sales including orders, invoices, fulfillment, and seating.
5. Work with the Marketing Team to create and implement strategies to reach goals for ticket sales (including subscription series, single, group, and student tickets); building brand awareness; strengthening community relationships.
6. Supervise and schedule box office staff to ensure overall smooth operation, consistent implementation of policies, and high levels of customer service.
7. Lead Box Office specific reporting structures including daily deposits, box office budgeting, audit support, and data support.
8. Take responsibility as a “super user” of AudienceView (AV), MRT’s CRM including training staff on the system. Assist in maintaining the database, ensuring data is kept clean, and up-to-date. Help implement standards and protocols.
9. Monitor all Box Office related sections of the website and report corrections.
10. Coordinate with Front of House staff so that the MRT spaces are clean, welcoming, and accessible for patrons.
11. Assist in communication with patrons (pre-performance reminders, post-performance surveys, etc.)
12. Trouble shoot and maintain box office technology including Boca printer, assisted listening devices, ticket scanners, etc.
13. Serve as primary liaison with school groups attending Student Matinees
14. Other duties as assigned.

Salary: $45,000 - $50,000 DOE, Full Time Year Round
