Lowell, MA – Merrimack Repertory Theatre (MRT) announces the continuation of its Library Pass program in the 2015-16 Season, which now includes libraries in Groton and Burlington. Cardholders at libraries in the Merrimack Valley and beyond can access discount passes to every production at the region’s only professional theatre. The program underscores MRT’s ongoing commitment to putting the Greater Lowell community at the center of its work, presenting vibrant contemporary plays and musicals in ways that are accessible to all.

PRESS RELEASE: MRT and Western Avenue Studios Announce New Partnership

Lowell, MA – When Merrimack Repertory Theatre (MRT) opened “The Lion” recently, audience members were greeted by artwork created by members of the Western Avenue Studios Artists Association (WASAA). Through a new partnership between the organizations, a new exhibit will go up in the theatre’s Sage Bank Lobby for each of the seven productions in the season. Jointly curated by MRT and WASAA, each piece is connected, in some way, to the play on stage.

Lowell, MA – Merrimack Repertory Theatre (MRT)’s new Artistic Director Sean Daniels opens his first season at the helm of the company with “The Lion,” a solo-musical written and performed by Benjamin Scheuer and directed by Daniels. After highly-praised runs in Edinburgh and London, two Off-Broadway productions, and several awards, “The Lion” is beginning a two-year national tour that launches from MRT. The gripping musical takes the audience on one man’s musical journey from boyhood to manhood, through pain and healing, to discover the redemptive power of music.

PRESS RELEASE: MRT's Megan Sandberg-Zakian wins Princess Grace Foundation Award

Lowell, MA –The Princess Grace Foundation-USA (PGF-USA) announced its 2015 awards winners today, among them, Megan Sandberg-Zakian, whose proposal was sponsored by Merrimack Repertory Theatre. The prestigious fellowship will allow her to serve as Director in Residence at MRT. Sandberg-Zakian is one of seven theatre artists who received the grant this year. In total, the PGF-USA announced grants totaling more than $1 million in the fields of theater, dance and choreography, and film. The awards continue the legacy of Princess Grace (Kelly) of Monaco, who helped emerging artists pursue their artistic goals during her lifetime.
